What are LED Tri-Proof Lights?

LED tri-proof lights are waterproof, dustproof, and corrosion-resistant high-illuminance fixtures. They are also shock-resistant and do not release any harmful or flammable gases.

You can use these luminaires in different industrial and commercial applications as they provide high illuminance and low power consumption. They are also heat and water-resistant, so they can be used in many situations where using other light fixtures might be dangerous.

LED tri-proof lights are made of anti-corrosion and anti-oxidation materials, sealed with silicone, high durability, waterproof and dustproof. Double insulation ensures the safety of the circuit, ensuring long-term performance without risk of explosion.

They are maintenance-free and therefore more environmentally friendly. Also, they don't need to be replaced regularly because they last a long time.

LED tri-proof lights can reduce energy consumption by up to 80%, so they are ideal for high-performance requirements when you need bright light with low power consumption. In addition, they can operate not only at high temperatures of 70°C, but also in ambient temperatures as low as -40°C.

These luminaires are suitable for hazardous applications as they can be used safely in hazardous situations. Additionally, they do not emit flammable gases or explode, making them ideal for many industrial environments.

Benefits of LED Tri-Proof Light

LED tri-proof lights are an affordable way to provide high-quality warehouse lighting for the toughest jobs, so you can provide visibility to any space without a problem. One of the reasons people switch from metal halide or incandescent to LED tri-proof lights is the lower cost of energy. LED lighting lasts 25 times longer and consumes 75% less energy than traditional light bulbs. But energy efficiency isn't the only benefit. Some non-LED fixtures may be less expensive upfront, but using LED high bays will save you money in the long run. The reasons are as follows:

  • Reduced Environmental Impact - Warehouse lighting LED solutions use less power to achieve the same or better results than comparable lighting solutions. They also do not contain harmful elements such as mercury found in other lamps, and they are recyclable. This reduces their environmental impact and disposal costs. LED tri-proof lights have a particularly long service life, so replacement frequency is low.
  • Improved Efficiency - LEDs are an efficient choice in terms of energy expended to output lumens . They offer the highest lumen output power and energy consumption on the market. LED tri-proof light uses over 90% less energy than incandescent options.
  • Reduced utility costs - Because LEDs use less power to achieve the same (or better) results than fluorescent or metal halide lights, they reduce utility costs. They also burn at a lower temperature so won't negatively impact your cooling setup.
  • Longevity - LED tri-proof lights last for years, with some options providing over 100,000 hours of illumination. They are also very durable since there is no filament. Less frequent replacement has a positive impact on the environment and reduces labor costs.
  • Reliable Return on Investment - The higher initial cost of LED tri-proof is offset by reduced energy bills, rebates and a longer lifespan.
  • Increased Safety - The LED tri-proof light does not emit any mercury or UV rays. Plus, their lower operating temperature makes them safer to handle without the fear of getting burned.

IP Grade of LED Tri-Proof Light

What does LED tri-proof light protection standard IP69K mean?

The code for the enclosure protection class is usually composed of the characteristic letter IP and two characteristic numbers. The first figure refers to the following: preventing the human body from touching or approaching the living parts inside the enclosure and touching the moving parts (except for smooth rotation and the like) to prevent the protection of solid foreign objects into the enclosure; the second figure refers to preventing water from entering the enclosure The interior achieves a degree of protection against harmful levels.

The first marked number definition:

IP6X Dust-proof: It completely prevents the intrusion of foreign objects and completely prevents dust from entering.

The second tag number definition:

IPX5: To prevent the intrusion of water: prevent water from the nozzles from all directions to enter the lamp to cause damage.

IPX6: To prevent the intrusion of large waves: lamps installed on the deck to prevent damage caused by the invasion of large waves.

IPX7: To prevent water intrusion when flooding: The lamp is immersed in water for a certain time or water pressure below a certain standard to ensure that it does not cause damage due to water.

IPX8: Prevent intrusion of water when sinking: The lamp sinks indefinitely under specified water pressure conditions to ensure that it is not damaged due to water ingress.

IP69/69K: Capable of withstanding the thermal steam wash test defined in EN 60529 and DIN 40050-9. This provides protection against water pressures of 100 bar (1450 psi) and temperature of 80oC. The pressure is applied directly to the sensor at progressive angles of 30 degrees (0, 30, 60, and 90 degrees) for 30 seconds at each angle for a total of 120 seconds (2 minutes) to prevent water ingress.

What material is used for LED tri-proof light?

LED tri-proof lights can resist ammonia, chlorine, and other chemicals. The corrosion resistance of LED tri-proof light depends on the material used, and the corrosion resistance of different materials will vary. The commonly used materials for LED tri-proof light are PC, ABS, PMMA, GLASS, PET. Let us introduce some of the main differences between PC and PMMA LED tri-proof lights.

      1. Physical properties: PC has better toughness and impact strength than PMMA. PMMA is a brittle material.

      2. Temperature resistance:
PC has better temperature resistance than PMMA. PC’s TG reaches 120°, while PMMA is only 85°.

      3. Wear resistance:
PC has better wear resistance than PMMA, but the surface scratch resistance is far inferior to PMMA, so the scratch-resistant high-gloss ABS material is alloyed with PMMA.

      4. Fire resistance:
PC has better fire resistance than PMMA, that is, it has better fire resistance. Ordinary PC can reach fire resistance V2, V0,5VA,5VB

      5. Light transmittance: PMMA has much better light transmittance than PC. PMMA has a light transmittance of 92~93%, which is the best among transparent materials. Therefore, multiple light guide plates and medical equipment are often used, and the PC is only 86~89 %.

       6. Weather resistance: PMMA has excellent weather resistance. It is often used as outdoor products, and PC is used as outdoor products. Add UV agent and antioxidant.

How do you choose LED tri-proof lights?

LED tri-proof lights can be used using fixtures or directly from their wires for suspension installation. Yet, there are several factors to consider when you're choosing the right LED tri-proof lights in your facility or space to improve visibility and productivity.

  • They should be waterproof, so you can use them where the light fixtures are subject to direct or indirect water exposure. This means that they should be resistant to water showers and moisture accumulation.
  • The light fixtures should be perfectly sealed to prevent the accumulation of dust, which affects the performance of other lighting sources.
  • The lights should be covered by potent anti-corrosion layers that keep them functional in the harshest conditions.

Should I use LED tri-proof lights with controls?

While LED tri-proof lights for warehouse spaces and parking lots are very energy efficient, it would be wasteful to mount them directly to the ceiling without lighting controls. Lighting automation controls, such as motion sensors, dusk-to-dawn photocells, and dimmers, are the perfect addition to your lighting system because they not only lower your costs, but also make the system easier to use. LED tri-proof light controls allow you to quickly turn lights on or off, and the use of LED tri-proof occupancy sensors also prevents accidental use of lights when the facility is closed. Additionally, setting a set of controls in your system allows you to dim the lights to a more energy-efficient brightness.

Where is the LED tri-proof light fixture used?

LED tri-proof lights are used in spaces where luminaires need to withstand harsh working conditions. They can be used in both outdoor and indoor applications where luminaires may be exposed to moisture, heat, and temperature changes.

Given their placement, LED tri-proof light fixtures are natural fits for commercial and industrial uses. Industrial LED tri-proof light can be used for both commercial and residential operations. Here are some of the best applications for LED tri-proof lights:

Conformity testing during manufacturing of LED tri-proof light

Conformity testing during manufacturing of LED tri-proof light

Q.1 General

The tests specified in this annex should be carried out by the manufacturer on each LED tri-proof light after production and are intended to reveal, as far as safety is concerned, unacceptable variations in material and manufacture. These tests are intended not to impair the properties and the reliability of the luminaire, and they vary from certain type tests in the standard by the lower voltages utilized. More tests may have to be conducted to ensure that every luminaire conforms with the sample approved under the type test to this specification. The manufacturer should determine these tests from his experience. Within the framework of the quality manual, the manufacturer may vary this test procedure and its values to one better suited to his production arrangements, and may make certain tests at an appropriate stage during manufacture, provided it can be proved that at least the same degree of safety is ensured as specified in this annex.

Q.2 Testing

Electrical tests should be conducted on 100 % of all units produced as scheduled in Table Q.1. Failed products are to be quarantined for scrap or rebuild. Visual inspection should take place to ensure that: a) all specified labels are securely in place; b) manufacturers’ instructions are placed within the luminaire, where necessary; c) the luminaire is complete, and that mechanical check against a checklist for the product has been carried out. All products passing these tests should be suitably identified.
